Thermal transfer paper is slightly more costly than regular paper because it requires a ribbon for printing, but that pays off if you want the label to withstand direct sunlight, very cold, hostile conditions, long application time etc. This stock is usually used for barcode labels. Some of the thermal transfer papers include: uncoated thermal transfer paper, ultra smooth coated white paper, white semi gloss thermal transfer paper, etc. Coated papers usually produce a better quality barcodes than uncoated.
